Moylan Reminds Locals of Community Resources to Combat Extreme Winter Weather

01/29/2019
DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is reminding locals to take precautions and seek refuge during extreme cold winter temperatures.

“During the winter months, it is critically important that area residents and those vulnerable to the bitter cold are aware of community resources to combat subzero temperatures,” Moylan said. “No one should have to endure the extreme weather on their own when there are warming centers available and ready to assist.”

Warming centers are available with various locations throughout the state to help local residents endure the winter’s frigid temperatures. Facility hours vary depending on location. Additional information regarding statewide warming centers, as well as tips to save money on utilities during cold months, is available at www2.illinois.gov/sites/KeepWarm.

“These unbearably cold temperatures make it unsafe to spend extended periods of time outdoors,” Moylan said. “I also encourage residents to take a moment and reach out to elderly friends and family to make sure they are okay.”
